I owe a summary entry of my Floridian entry but since getting back to Blighty I've been struck down with:

1. work; and

2. jet lag; and

3. lurgy,

so haven't had a chance to catch up. Of course, some of you probably think that's a good thing. In fact, I think I can hear some of you breathing sighs of relief. I won't take it personally. Much.

:organises photographs for the 3 hour slide show:

I have however done an interview with the wonderful and talented JON MAYHEW for the Enchanted Inkpot here so if you've got a few minutes please check it out because his answers are as fab as his book, MORTLOCK.

In other news, my Christmas pressie to uC this year was a trip to see Tim Minchin and his Orchestra at the O2 last night and it was a blast. Seriously, you should check him out - very clever, very funny and the songs are just awesome. His gig dates are up on his website and he is well worth the money but here's a cuple of tasters from YouTube:

I have saved the best news until last though. I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to report that my MA classmate, the stupendously talented DAVID JOHN, has now got a US book deal with HarperCollins for his debut novel. It's a historical thriller set against the backdrop of the 1936 Olympics and it revolves around a dirty little Nazi secret. I am so thriller for David because the extracts I read/heard during my MA were wonderful - he has a great ear for 1930s dialogue and the plot rocketed along. No word yet on publishing dates or titles but I'll let you know as soon as I do.

:throws confetti:

It as a fab show - thank you so much! (And 'Inflatable You' is one of my faves!)

 I was only going to link to one of Tim's songs and then I saw Inflatable You and had to add it.

I'd definitely go and see him live again.

Been looking for news about your upcoming publications. Have I missed something?
Dec. 19th, 2010 05:23 pm (UTC)
Erm ... I don't have any upcoming publications unfortunately. I'm still working on the edits and rewriting the ending.

lovely to just see that you're doing well enough to post!

Also I am def. NOT one of the people grateful for lack of catch-up -- I'd like it :)

Heh, you say that now - but in hour 5 of my presentation: "What I did on my holidays" that may well change ... :D

Thanks for the Tim Minchin links, they made my laugh despite my unshiftable lurgy.

PS How's your final re-write going?
Dec. 19th, 2010 05:26 pm (UTC)
I can sympathise with you about the lurgy - I'm still shaking off a stinker of a cold.

Re-write is still going slowly but my agent seems to be very positive about the manuscript in its current state - doesn't seem to be much more than minor trimming and refning, which is good.

Someone showed me Tim Minchin's "If I Didn't Have You" on their laptop and I just about died laughing. I was hooked! Kermit with envy for what had to be an *amazing* event!!

Tim Minchin is incredibly clever. I'd be surprised if he didn't go Stateside soon.
Dec. 19th, 2010 08:19 pm (UTC)
I'm really beginning to like Tim Minchin. Thanks for these! =)

And in a similar vein to that first song, I give you Weird Al Yankovic's Good Enough For Now. ;)

Wait a second... are you Momento Mori in a writers' forum? The know-it-all that puts others down constantly? And you haven't even been published? If not, some horrible person using that screen name has claimed that this blog is theirs. Surely, it can't be you!

Re: Momento?
Oh look, a repetitive troll. That's just sad.
And worse, you're a troll who apparently didn't bother reading my User Info the first time around. No, I'm not published and I've never claimed to have been. I am agented though. Details on my user info. Stick around and check out the blog. You might actually learn something.
