Much ado about something

As promised, I have used my faithful Random Number Generator to select the winner of THE DEAD by David Gatward, CRAWLERS by Sam Enthoven and WITCHFINDER: DAWN OF THE DEMONTIDE by William Hussey and it has selected:

cherii_2009 whose favourite horror movie is The Ring!

Very many congratulations to you!

In other news, work has gone insane in the last 48 hours. Bloody recession. Bloody coalition government.

I did however manage to get away yesterday for a blog reviewer event at the kind folks at Simon & Schuster which saw me somehow manage to drag 18 books home with me. And I mean drag - I think I've done my shoulder in with the weight of them all - not that there was any danger of my giving some back. Uh-uh.

:shakes head and waves finger in a 'no way, girlfriend' manner:

I've put a full list behind the cut to

1. The Demon’s Covenant by Sarah Rees Brennan.

2. Hawkwood’s Voyage by Paul Kearney.

3. The Heretic Kings by Paul Kearney.

4. The Lost City of Z by David Grann.

5. Passing Strange by Daniel Waters.

6. Claire De Lune by Christine Johnson.

7. Hello Dubai by Joe Bennett.

8. The White Queen by Philippa Gregory.

9. The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory.

10. Loser’s Town by Daniel Depp.

11. Eleven by Mark Watson.

12. Plague Of The Dead: The Morningstar Strain by Z. A. Recht.

13. Beyond Exile by J. L. Bourne.

14. The King’s Bastard by Rowena Cory Daniells.

15. The Oath by Michael Jecks.

16. The Light of Burning Shadows by Chris Evans.

17. The Executioner by Chris Carter.

18. Of Saints And Shadows by Christopher Golden.

THE DEMON'S COVENANT by Sarah Rees Brennan (aka sarahtales) is already in my bag ready for the commute into work tomorrow (as I've almost finished A MATTER OF BLOOD by Sarah Pinborough - which is a good horror/dark urban fantasy read for anyone looking for a new trilogy) and I'm really excited by the 2 zombie books - BEYOND EXILE by J. L. Bourne and PLAGUE OF THE DEAD: THE MORNINGSTAR STRAIN by Z. A. Recht.

The books are a mix of ARCs and 'proper' books so you'll probably see me do some give-aways in the coming months.

And all there's left to say is yay Holland for getting into the World Cup final. Tomorrow sees Germany take on Spain and I'm still rooting for the Spanish - me and Paul the psychic octopus in fact, as Paul has picked Spain to win and he hasn't been wrong yet. I hope he's not wrong this time because if Spain win then I can still win the work sweepstake. Let's just say that if he is wrong, then he may end up as calamari ...

You cannot hate the behaviour of the coalition as much as I currently do.

Well, I could quite happily kick Michael Gove in the shins. His little announcement yesterday is causing a fricking nightmare that shows little signs of abating at the moment.

I am afraid he'll have to take his place behind Francis Maude in my little queue of Ministers to kick.
Jul. 6th, 2010 10:45 pm (UTC)
PS: It wouldn't be his shins I'd kick either...

No. I wouldn't kick his shins either ...

They're all vile little toads.

Wow. What an amazing lineup of books!
It must have been exciting, dragging all of those books back to your lair. :P

I haven't been following the World Cup all that much, although most people here in Australia are following it so intently that it's amazed me how much people are into sports. It's either talk about World Cup or our new (first female) prime minister. *shrugs* I don't care much for either. xD Hey, it's not my life they're affecting.

Also, thanks another bunch for the giveaway! :D

Heh. Any resemblance between me and Gollum was purely coincidental ...

Precioussssss .....

Well Australia did seem to pick themselves up after a horrible opening game (not that England did any better). You can't escape the bloody thing here - I'm just annoyed that it keeps throwing out the TV schedules. Honestly, the only reason I'm showing any interest at the moment is because I might win some cold hard cash.

Haha! It's not nice to compare yourself to Gollum! NO one should ever be compared to Gollum!!!

Yeah...our defeat was EMBARASSING. Unfortunately, I don't follow the World Cup religiously, so I only know so much about the World Cup through the things people tell me. What do you mean "throwing out the TV schedules"? Do they chuck in ads/news updates in between shows specifically for the World Cup or something?

You're doing it for the money? You're becoming Gollum again! Pet the money while you murmur the preciousness of your deceit! Hang that head in shame. :P Sorry, it's really late here in Australia, so I might not be making any sense.

Looking forward to the Demon's Covenant review.

Yeah ... Got to say, I'm not loving it so far ...

Look at all those intriguing books! I look forward to hearing what you think of them. Especially Demon's Covenant. =) (I haven't read it yet, bad me!)

*scowls at coalition*

I'm only about 30 pages into Demon's Covenant but I'm really disappointed at the moment. I enjoyed the first one but this feels v. forced and I wasn't a fan of the POV character anyway.

Hopefully it will pick up.

Did we need saving, then?

That looks like quite a book haul! It'd take me well over a year to read that many.

Hope work settles down for you again soon.

I always need saving.

Hope work settles down for you again soon.

Thanks but it's unlikely at the moment - we're caught in a crunch at the moment with school deals trying to rework themselves and hospital deals trying to get things done before the October spending review.

Can't wait to read your reviews
